Hobart and William Smith Colleges and the Finger Lakes Institute will host a pair of week-long summer science day camps for middle school youths during July and August on the HWS campus. Each session of Science in Action camp will run concurrently with the Kids College camp, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Science in Action campers will participate in Kids College activities, including lunch in the Scandling Center and swimming. WATER WORLDS

• Explore the water resources of the Finger Lakes region.
• Go on field trips to nature preserves.
• Use the FLI’s facilities on – and in – Seneca Lake to gain hands-on science experience.
•Meet professionals and research scientists who work to protect the Finger Lakes environment. |

WHAT'S A BOTANIST
TO DO?

• Get out into nature and explore the science of botany.
• Meet botanists from the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge and Cornell’s Technology Park.
• Get hands-on experience learning to use Global Positioning Systems for mapping, to identify plant life from the region and to record notes in their own field journals. |
