- Network ID
and
Password
Students receive a network username and password prior to arriving on campus. New faculty and staff are assigned a network username and password upon hire.
- Change your Password
Updating your password is easy. Simply press Ctrl-Alt-Delete from any lab computer or other computer configured for the HWS Network. Choose the "Change Password" button.
- Connect a Computer
Before new students can access any network or Internet resources, they will be directed to download our HWS Clean Access software.
- Secure a Computer
To protect your personal information and files as well as those of the Colleges’ you must help ensure the security of your computer.
- Use a Laptop
The Colleges and IT Services have been working to strategically deploy wireless networking on campus.
- Personal Network Storage Space
The "M" Drive. Each student, faculty and staff member have a limited amount of personal storage space on the campus network. To access your personal network storage space "M Drive," use these directions.
- Printing
Students receive a $15 credit at the beginning of each term. This is equivalent to 300 black & white pages at $.05 per page, or 60 pages of color printing at $.25 per page or any combination that equals $15. Click here to purchase more print credits or view your account.
- Buy a Computer
Students who purchase a computer to bring to campus should follow the recommended guidelines.
Faculty and staff are eligible for educational discounts on home computers. Primary office computers are replaced on a four-year cycle. more>>
- Blackboard
Blackboard is a course management program that provides faculty with the ability to communicate with students in their classes from the Web. To learn more/how to use Blackboard, contact IT Services.
- E-mail
&
HWS Web mail
Students are given 500MB of e-mail storage space through the Web mail system. Visit http://webmail.hws.edu to log in.
Faculty and staff may use a variety of protocols to access and manage their electronic mailbox including Web mail from off-campus. more>>
- Course Information and Registration
HWS provides easy access for both students and faculty to access course information through the PeopleSoft Portal.
- Phone
Students - Each dorm room has been assigned a telephone number. If you have subscribed to Campus Phone Service, you will have the ability to make and receive calls. There will be no dial tone until you sign-up for service. For details about phone service and voicemail, click here.
Faculty and staff are provided office phones and phone numbers from Telecommunications.
