To protect your personal information and files as well as those of the Colleges’ you must help ensure the security of your computer. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and a single compromised computer can take down the entire campus network.
Security is as much a series of good practices as good configuration of technology.

- Scan for viruses (Windows (NOD32 anti-virus) or Macintosh (Sophos anti-virus)
- Install security updates (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Macintosh)
Install Anti-Virus Protection
NOD32 Anti-Virus is available to users of Windows XP/Vista and Macintosh OS X operating systems for campus-owned or student computers. You must remove any previously installed anti-virus software not provided by HWS before installing NOD32 Anti-Virus. Complete instructions are available (see instructions for Clean Access Agent). Install anti-virus protection.
