Calvin Onderdonk Schofield, Jr.

The Rt. Rev. Calvin Onderdonk Schofields, Jr. '59 was elected bishop-coadjutor of the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida in November, 1978. Consecrated bishop in March, 1979, he because the second bishop of the diocese upon the retirement of Rt. Rev. James L. Duncan, in 1980.

A native of Delhi, New York, Bishop Schofields graduated from Hobart Colleges in 1959 with a bachelor-of-arts degree in history. He severed wit the U.S. Army during the Korean War and the U.S. Navy during the Suez crises; currently he holds the rank of commander, as a chaplain in the Naval Reserve.

In 1982, he received an S.T.B. degree from Berkeley Divinity School of Yale University, and went on to complete graduate studies at St. Luke's School of Theology in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Following his ordination to the priest hood in 1962, the Rev. Mr. Schofield served as a curate at St. Peter's Church, St. Petersburg, Florida, leaving in 1964 to become vicar of St. Andrew's Church in Miami. He became rector of St. Andrew's upon election of Bishop Duncan to the episcopate and served on a number of committees posts within the diocese.
