Bristol Field House
Dedicated on October 14, 1989, in a ceremony featuring Richard Schultz, former executive director of the NCAA, the opening of the Robert A. Bristol '31 Field House ushered in a new era for athletes and non-athletes alike. At 83,000-square-feet it is an understatement to say Bristol Field House it is a multi-purpose facility. It houses an indoor track; a full-size artificial-turf playing field that converts to five tennis or basketball courts; and ajoins the Elliott Varsity House and the Dr. Frank P. Smith '36 Squash Center.
The area inside the track is the largest indoor open space on campus so the most populated events are held in the Field House, such as when the Elizabeth Blackwell Award is given and a huge reception follows. If it rains on commencement, the Field House is the alternative dry site.
The primary audience for the entire facility is the Hobart and William Smith community, with tennis and basketball courts for general use as well as a 200-meter track.
The Hobart and William Smith Colleges athletics Web sites are maintained by the Office of Athletic Communications. With questions concerning athletics events, and other site
content, please contact Director of Athletic Communications Ken DeBolt.
