Statesmen Athletic Association

In 1971, the Statesmen Athletic Association (SAA) was established by a loyal group of Hobart alumni. The purpose of the association is to foster interest in the continued development of the athletics program at Hobart College. The SAA strives to assist athletics financially, to increase interest in Hobart sports, and to promote good fellowship among Hobart College alumni, parents, and friends.

Athletics programs—intercollegiate, intramural and recreational—are vital aspects of student life at Hobart College. The members of the SAA share a strong allegiance to athletics, and, through their membership, provide the financial support to sustain a superior athletic experience for our students.

Members are able to earmark their gift for a specific sport and funds generated are allocated for several areas within the athletic program:

  • Awards for teams and individual athletes.

  • The annual Block "H" Awards Dinner.

  • The recruitment of student-athletes by staff members.

  • The purchasing of athletic equipment that the athletic department’s budget is not able to underwrite.

  • Facility improvements for the athletic physical plant.

Activities of the Association involve SAA members, parents, student-athletes and friends of Hobart sports. These activities include:

All disbursements of SAA funds and all Association activities are in compliance with institutional and NCAA regulations.

The sustained loyalty of today’s members enables the SAA to assist our athletics programs in important and meaningful ways. The student athletes and coaches of Hobart are greatly appreciative of members’ support and encourage all Hobart fans to “join the team!”
