Director of Athletic Communications


Director of Athletic Communications Ken DeBoltA native of Geneva, N.Y., Ken DeBolt has served as the director of athletic communications for Hobart and William Smith Colleges since January of 1999. In his second tour with the Colleges, he served as the athletic communications assistant in 1996.

As the director of athletic communications, DeBolt oversees the promotion of all 22 intercollegiate teams. His office publishes the media guides and recruiting brochures for both athletics departments, maintains the Statesmen’s and Herons’ official websites, acts as a liason between the athletics departments and the local, regional, and national media, and serves as athletics historian, recording game, season, and career statistics. He also maintains the New York Division III Football web site.

An active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors Assication (ECAC-SIDA), DeBolt has served on the CoSIDA Committee on Committees since 1997. Additionally, his work on the Hobart Football media guide has been recognized in the annual CoSIDA Publications Contest, earning fourth in the nation in 1999, 2001, and 2006.

Prior to his return to Hobart and William Smith, DeBolt served as the sports information director at Roanoke College in Salem, Va., from 1996 through 1998. With the Maroons, he directed the media relations of the College’s 19 intercollegiate teams and coached Roanoke’s club baseball team. He also worked as a media assistant with eight NCAA Division II and III National Championships co-hosted by the City of Salem and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

A 1995 graduate of the University of Dayton, DeBolt holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He spent three semesters on the staff of the Flyer News, including one as assistant sports editor.

An active member of the Geneva community, DeBolt has been a volunteer in the Geneva Fire Department since 1993. He has served the C.J. Folger Hook & Ladder Company as a lieutenant and as a captain and has been a member of the Company's board of directors. DeBolt has earned the company’s Firefighter of the Year Award three times. He also has been a member of the Sons of the American Legion for more than 20 years.

DeBolt and his wife, Janine, live in Geneva with their daughter, Emily.
