Hobart and William Smith Athletic Communications
A division of the Colleges' Office of Communications
The Hobart and William Smith Colleges' Office of Athletic
Communications handles all publicity and public relations matters concerning
the Statesmen and Heron departments of athletics. The Athletic Communications handles the compilation and distribution of all information
on the Colleges' 22 intercollegiate teams.
Additionally, the Athletic Communications staff is responsible
for creating and maintaining both the Hobart
and William Smith Athletics
Web sites, as well as both departments' recruiting brochures and
media guides. The office also produces the Statesmen
Athletic Association's Sportsletter and the Heron
Society's HERONews.
Since January of 1999, the office has been led by Director
of Athletic Communications Ken
DeBolt. Assistant Director of Athletic Communications Megan O'Connor joined the staff in August of 2006.
Over the past two years, their work on the Hobart
Football media guide has been recognized by the College
Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as among the
best in the nation. The 1999 guide was judged fourth best in nation,
while the 2000 guide earned the best in the region and seventh in
the nation. In 2001, the Hobart Football Media Guide returned to
the No. 4 spot in the nation.
