Advisory Council


Mission Statement

The William Smith Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is consists of two student-athletes from each of the 11 William Smith College varsity teams. The purpose of the advisory council is to provide a mechanism for communication and to promote activity between student-athletes, the athletic department, and the campus community. The SAAC meets regularly with the director of athletics and a representative from the coaching staff. The SAAC's functions include:

  • Promote communication between athletics, administration, students, and faculty.
  • Disseminate information regarding relevant topics in the realm of athletics.
  • Provide feedback and insight into athletics and academic issues.
  • Generate student-athlete voice within the athletics department for policies concerning participation.
  • Build a sense of community within the athletics program involving all teams.
  • Solicit student-athlete response to conference and NCAA legislation.
  • Organize community service projects.
  • Create a vehicle for student-athlete representation for campus committees.
  • Promote a positive student-athlete image on campus.
