Student-Athlete Advisory Council
Statement of Purpose
Founded in 1979, the Hobart Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is comprised of student-athletes from each of the 11 Hobart College varsity teams. Council members are selected by their respective head coach and the director of Hobart athletics.
The Council serves the student-athletes of Hobart College with the objective of strengthening the value of athletics as an integral part of each student-athlete's educational experience. Among the important ways in which the Council represents Hobart student-athletes are:
- By soliciting student-athlete input on athletics related programs
- By generating a student-athlete voice within the department
- By disseminating information to team members
- By creating a vehicle for student-athlete representation on campus committees
- By organizing educational programs and other community service efforts
- By providing the leadership for maintaining and implementing the Hobart Athletic Code of Conduct
- By providing input on content and schedule for the Napier Leadership Seminar and by taking a leadership role in the Seminar.
The Council includes the director of athletics and a member of the coaching staff. Meetings are normally held biweekly each semester. The dean of the college, the NCAA faculty athletics representative, head coaches, and the Committee on Athletics will be included in the Council’s work. Effective communication with these members of the community and especially with team members is essential for the Council to best serve the interests of our student-athletes and to enhance the value of intercollegiate athletics and its rich tradition at Hobart College.
The Hobart College athletics Web site is maintained by the Office of Athletic Communications. With questions concerning athletics events, and other site content, please contact Director of Athletic Communications Ken DeBolt.
